In his earlier post, Al Cubbage did a great job summarizing last night's Village of Wilmette's poster session on potential Green Bay Road improvements. Several additions to his comments:

• Currently there is no funding for the improvements. Only design work is being done at this time.
• As Al noted, no bike lanes are proposed for Green Bay Road. I asked the Village Engineer, Dan Manis, if it would be feasible to expand the road east into the dirt bank leading up to the METRA / UP tracks. This would provide space for bike lanes while retaining parking spaces and traffic lane(s). Manis said UP owns the right-of-way from the tracks to the road curb, and is unlikely to cede the land.
