Tuesday Moderate Ride – May 27th – 9:00 AM – Panera
This week's Tuesday Moderate Ride will tour the former Albert Lasker estate in Lake Forest. Here is a link to the route I will be using: EstateLane2017 · Ride with GPS. We made some changes to the route last year. The crossing of Waukegan Road is now at a controlled intersection. The tour stops are unchanged, but the route to lunch after the tour is more scenic along less frequently ridden roads. It also has the advantage of giving one a visceral feeling for how large the estate actually was. With the new route we also cross the bridge along Half Day Road, in front of Prairie Wolf Slough, only once, which means we have to negotiate its two bumps only one time.
I will ride at a moderate (13 – 15 mph) pace. With enough interest and a willing leader there will be a second group traveling at a slightly faster pace. Our total distance will be 37 miles. We will ride at a steady pace to and from the estate, but some patience will be necessary as we explore the estate because of the frequent stops. It is possible that lunch will be a bit later than usual, so breakfast and snack accordingly. In the interest of speeding lunch along a bit, we will be lunching at Jersey Mike’s Subs rather than Eggspreso. Riders will also have the option of lunching at Dogout, next to Jersey Mike’s. All three restaurants are in the same shopping center.
