Corned Beef, Latkes and Hot Fudge Sundaes on a Sunday
Please join me for a classic urban Fast (15-17 mph) ride to the famous Manny’s Deli just off Roosevelt Road and Jefferson south of the Loop. A favorite of Chicago politicians as well as the general public, Manny’s is an institution of deli delights including one of the best corned beef sandwiches and potato pancakes, anywhere. Founded in 1942, this is a family run institution where everything, including the corned beef is homemade. After lunch, we will ride to Margie’s Candies on Western Avenue. A Chicago landmark for over a century, this old fashioned candy store and ice cream parlor will provide the perfect dessert for the ride back to Wilmette. Total distance approximately 40 miles. The link to the route is below. I have made some minor changes for the ride from Manny's to Margie's and then home that have not been updated on the route map. The ride to Manny's remains the same. Right now the weather forecast is not looking good - rain and high winds are in the forecast. I will cancel the ride if it is rainy and/or windy. I will post by 7:30AM on Sunday if the ride is a go or no-go.
