Bike Lane Siting - Church St. and Lavergne Ave. - May 11, 2026

Spring Rides Eternal

Extra, extra, read all about it!   Verified bike lane sitings on Church Street in Skokie!   After many years of planning and working through the details, it is finally happening.   And, our spring ride schedule begins next Wednesday with our annual Ride of Silence and we other rides and events coming up later this spring and summer.

Ride of Silence  – May 20, 2026 – 7:00pm – Wheel & Sprocket, Evanston – Our annual ride as part of the world wide ride of silence to commemorate those killed or injured on the roads.  In collaboration with the Evanston Bike Club and the Evanston Transit Alliance, this ride starts at the Wheel and Sprocket on Davis Street and proceeds through Evanston and Skokie before returning to the bike shop.

Tales from the Trails – open for story submissions - We are current soliciting submissions for our fourth annual “Tales from the Trails” storytelling event.  We welcome anyone – novice to seasoned - who has a story to tell to submit it for consideration. For event details or submission guidelines, visit our “Tales from the Trails 2026” web page, send an e-mail inquiry to us at skokiebikenet@gmail.com or reply to this e-mail.. .

Ride the Stars - ride to the Chicago Stars – Saturday July 18th – Game time 5:30 – Get on a bike train starting in Niles, Skokie or Evanston to join a group attending the Chicago Stars women’s soccer game at Martin Stadium on the Northwestern campus.   We are working on the final routes and timing of the ride.  Join the group or meet us there.  Group rides will start between 3:30 and 4:00 depending on the location and final rendezvous points.   We have a link for purchasing tickets with the group or feel free to buy tickets in your preferred seating.  Bring the family and join with friends for soccer fun on the lakefront.

Rogers Park Bugalow Tour - June 20, 2026 – 9:00am – Indian Boundry Park Cultural Center – Lunt and Campbell, Chicago – Join us on this relaxing tour through the Rogers Park Manor and Talman West Ridge Historic Bungalow Districts. Built between 1915 and 1930 these two districts reflect the coming of age of the Chicago bungalow.   We will ride by many different homes built when local architects and builders began experimenting with form and stylistic detailing to create bungalows that were unique to Chicago.  The ride will be at a relaxing pace where we will visit homes of notable Chicagoans from mob bosses to Cubs catchers.

Bike Ped Plan – Skokie has launched into a bike and pedestrian plan with the assistance of CMAP (Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning) and they are soliciting input to guide the plan.  The plan web site includes and “Idea Board” and an interactive map  where you can pin locations of key opportunities and challenges.   Your input is vital to the success of this process and we invite everyone to submit their ideas.

We hope that the early riding season has been treating you well.

Be well, live well, ride on
